Long vowels: the letters of madd

حروف المد

Alif, wāw and yāʼ stretch a vowel to two counts. Learn the three patterns and the small 'standing' marks in the mushaf.

These long vowels last two counts, double a short vowel. Keep the length even: not one count, not three.
